AI Engineer - Internship
About UkisAI
UkisAI is a Europe-based applied AI lab, founded in 2023. We develop public-facing AI products, run applied research, and work closely with companies to design, prototype, and deploy AI solutions.
We're a small, established engineering team with products that are already stable and running in production. We're bringing in an intern to help us tighten and smooth what's there, working on real products that real people use.
About the role
This is a four-week internship for people who are curious about how AI works and want to learn to build with it. We're looking for curiosity, some comfort with code or the willingness to learn it, and the drive to ship something real.
You will work on our own products, like FONGPT and TrueStay, right next to the founders and experienced engineers. They will review what you build, answer your questions, and help you get better fast. You will build features, fix bugs, and ship improvements that actual users see, hands-on from day one.
In this role, you will
- Build and ship features on our own products, like FONGPT and TrueStay
- Fix bugs and improve existing features so they work better for real users
- Learn how a modern AI product is put together, from the model to the interface
- Work closely with the founders and experienced engineers who review your work and coach you
- Pick up the tools, habits, and workflow of a real engineering team as you go
You may be a good fit if you are
- Genuinely curious about how AI works and how it gets built
- Comfortable writing some code, or determined enough to learn it quickly
- Happy to ask questions, take feedback, and iterate
- Able to follow through and finish what you start in a short period
- Excited to spend four weeks building real things
Nice to have, but not required
- Some programming experience in any language (Python is a plus)
- A small project, script, or experiment you have built and can show us
- Familiarity with AI tools like Codex, Cursor and Claude Code, and curiosity about what happens under the hood
Logistics
- Term: A focused four-week program.
- Commitment: Around 20 hours per week, part-time, so it can fit around studies or other work.
- Location: Belgrade.
- Working model: Hybrid.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship, built for learning, mentorship, and real hands-on experience.
- Code ownership: As an intern, you will not own the code you write here; it stays with UkisAI.
- Start date: As soon as you're ready.
UkisAI is an equal-opportunity team. We welcome applicants from every background and community. If this excites you but you're not sure you tick every box, apply anyway, this internship is built for people who are still learning.
